Lyrics

Verse 1
Hold me close, as the winter settles in you see
It’s the perfect time for us
Snowflakes are falling, the city lights will guide us home
Clear breath in the cold air, your kiss is all the warmth I need
Baby, it’s just you and me, maybe this is meant to be

Verse 2
But all this time, you’ve been holding feelings back
You took my hope and tore it down
Rain turns to ice, a smile fades quickly into a shiver in the night
Time and time again, you assured me you’d be there

Chorus
Let me down easy, just let me go
I don’t wanna play this game no more

Verse 3
Don’t let go, I’m afraid to leave this all behind
But I’ll take this chance, spring is soon to come and brings new beginnings
I won’t regret everything that we’ve been through

Chorus (x2)
Let me down easy, just let me go
I don’t wanna play this game no more

Bridge
Don’t you know that I tried, I’ll see you again…
Sometimes it’s meant to be, and others not, but that’s alright
I’ll move on and be a better me, it’s sad of course, cause that’s meant to be
All I know is I tried

Chorus
Let me down easy, just let me go
I don’t wanna play this game no more

Diving deeper into “Twist to Trust”

I started writing “Twist to Trust” two years ago, and ever since then I’ve been confused about the song because it’s partially rooted in reality (in this case, lived experience) and partially imagination (in this case, pulling from others’ experiences). My fear is that listeners will only attribute the lyrics to my life and that the song then becomes untruthful; the confusion comes in not knowing how to feel about that. Anyway, I think it’s okay.

I believe that trust and communication are key to all good relationships. When trust goes out the door, a lot goes with it.
